Chinese New Year Games!

"We had a lot of fun!"

Here are some entertaining and full of laughter Chinese New Year Games!  They are easy, fun and safe and all the kids with have a blast.  They go well with the theme and perfect for the party!  And you too parents, join in and have fun!

Catch the Dragon Tail

This game is great for large groups!  You can play this game both indoor and outdoor.  We played theses Chinese new year games and they were a hit!  The kids loved it and the game went perfectly with the theme!

Age: 5+

Object: Watch you tail!

• 10 or more players

What to do:

1. Get all the kids to form on big line with their hand on shoulders
2. The one in front is the dragon head, the kids in the middle is the body and the one at the end is the tail
3. The dragons head then tries to grab the dragon tail
4. When the head touches the tail, the child who is the tail is then out
5. Doing this will make the body shorter and shorter
6. Continue until there is one player left
7. Then he or she is the WINNER! 
    

The Chopstick Race

This game is just a tad challenging, but so fun all at the same time!  The kids will be racing and roaring with laughter!  It is so adorable to watch the kids race with the chopsticks and balancing the marshmallows.  You too parents get in on the game and have some fun! 

Age: 5+

Object: To get as many marshmallows in the bowl as fast as possible

You will need:

• 5 or more players
• A set of chopsticks for each player
• A bag of Marshmallows
• 2 bowls for each group

What to do:

1. Have all the kids line up in a row with chopsticks in hand
2. On the other side of the room line up the bowls of marshmallows at least 8 to 10 feet away and 1 bowl at the start line
3. If there are more then 5 kids put them in groups of five or desired group
4. On "GO!" the kids will race to pick up the marshmallows with their chopsticks only no hands
5. If one child drops 1 they must go back and start again
6. The team that fills their bowl first WINS!

Steal the Dragon

These Chinese new year games create tons of laughter!  Since the theme is Chinese and the pins are dragons it will be quite difficult not to say these words.  If there are adults at your kids party, get them in the game by giving everyone a dragon pin.  No let the game begin!

Age: 5+

Object: Don’t get caught saying: Chinese or Dragon

You will need:

• Cut outs of Dragon
• Clothes Pins
• Glue

What to do:

1. First you will need to get a little crafty! 
2. Next, glue the dragons on the clothes pins
3. To create these game pieces a little quicker, you can grab some stickers from your local dollar store and stick them on the pins
4. As each player arrives hand one to each guest
5. Only once tell them "don’t get caught saying Chinese or Dragon!". 
6. As the kids go about the party they can listen out for the word Chinese or dragon and once heard..
7. Steal their dragon. 
8. The one with the most dragon in a period of time WINS!  It could after the cake or after the gifts.
